Hi guys, I have a pen / writing related domain that is quite old and ranks well. Currently it is doing nothing, just sitting there with nothing on it. Does anyone know of a wholesale / dropshipper who offers pens and writing equipment?
Check with Worldwide Brands, I"m sure there's a supplier there that will have writing equipment. Don't ever buy any of those Ebay dropship, cheap lists though. They'll lead you nowhere. Good luck, hope this helps, JOEY
Are Worldwide Brands a well known company? I'm based in the UK, will many dropshippers be willing to work with me? (even though I would be selling to the US market)
Do people pay big (or semi-big) money for pens? Enough of them? Drop shippers are good for one-choice items - for example you write a book and don't want to deal with the shipping and packing. They do it, but they charge you for it. I see perhaps three pen markets: 1) Super grandi gee whiz expensive pens - Doubt you can make much traction there but who knows? 2) Some kind of cool pen that people will pay $5 or $10 bucks for. License football teams and so on .... might work, but you better do your own shipping' cause the dropshipper cost will eat you up. 3) Some kind of cool pen wholesale. (advertising pens?) Better to make 10 cents each on 1440 pens than a buck on one eh??? At any rate find something to convince people that your pens are worth the difference from the $1 / dozen pens at Walmart. BTW a pen site could meld into a writing site.
Thanks for your guidance, I really appreciate it. I think I'm heading towards high priced items, sell less, deal with fewer queries and maintain a higher margin. What kind of writing? Poetry perhaps?
Find the manufacturers of the pens you want to sell. Once you do that, contact them and ask them if they dropship.
Quality would be a given, but not enough. You need cache' -- that unspeakable something that says, subtlely: "wealth". I have never understood it. By way of benefit, you would get less "problem customers" in the upper brackets, but perhaps a surprising number of cheapies. (How come you charged me $4 postage and the sticker on the box says $1.29 ???) I suspect the ones who read poetry are other poets. "How to write a good love letter" not: How to write a good business letter - they use typewriters. "What your signature tells about you" "Secrets of successful shopping lists" ..... well maybe not that one.
