Dropping sharply in SERP

    I am trying to figure out, why my site is disappearing off search results or dropping sharply off search results. I run a free classified ads site http://www.jihoy.com and have been making some changes.

    1. I changed in the google webmaster, from jihoy.com to www.jihoy.com as preferred domain. (I assume this is a positive to consolidate)

    2. I added adsense (it's not outbound links, I hope? should have no effect)

    3. I changed targeting from US to the world. (this will probably be negative for US SERP)

    4. Went from page rank 0 to page 3 last week. (positive)

    5. Some guy posted an ad on my site (my site is do-follow) with literally over 200+ outbound links on a single page to bunch of money-making sites. (negative)

    What is the correct number of my links?

    link: jihoy.com gives 998
    link: www.jihoy.com gives 3270

    however, i suspect if I put in a space between link: and my url, this doesn't really count the backlink, but rather a search querie for page containing the word link and also my url, so it's not really number of indexed google backlinks?

    I am very confused, SERP for my main keyword went from page 7 to page 14 while total number of links have increased. Anyone has any idea what has happened? I am thinking of just going mad and doing like 1000 spinned articles submission everyday just to see what happens :-p

    I would be very suspicious of that guy who spammed your site with 200 links. There is a good chance that some of those links were bad neighborhood. Regardless of the quality of those sites, it would look spammy to Google to put up 200 links only to remove them shortly after. If it were me I would put some kind of filter in place to prevent spam like that. Since your site is dofollow I would check through all other ads to ensure there are no bad links.

    You are talking about the world so you should expect a lot of competitors. Try to work harder on building those back links.
