Dropped right out for main keyword in google - all others ok

Hi all - just a quick query

I've dropped right out for my main keyword in google. All my other keyword on all my subpages are holding steady but the main keyword for the site which normally brings back the homepage has dropped off, ie, we don't appear for it at all. From yesterday we were there, and now nothing - has anyone seen anything similar in the last 24 hours?

Not seen any changes. Give it a few days.

If the page has totally gone then it should return.

Don't worry; if done properly, top keywords should only account for about 4% of total traffic to your site. You should go after the "low hanging fruit" that is much easier to rank for, is more targeted (better conversion rates) What I'm talking about is the long tail of search, hence: keyword combinations. The combination of SEO, Internal and external link strategies will help for those.

ronmojohny - yeah it doesn't account for too much of the volume and it's the long tail that converts the best. Odd thing is the page itself is still there, we just don't appear for the keyword anymore but everything else is the same - same positions for all other keywords, same number of pages indexed and I'm querying the exact same datacentre. V odd. not come back yet but I've still got my fingers crossed.

William Martin - maybe it's a UK thing?
