I have a site that I use for my business that has been up since 2008. It has performed very well over the years and has brought me a lot of organic traffic. However as of yesterday my site disappeared from the serps for several keywords. Unfortunately for me they were the ones that generated the bulk of my traffic. I have not made any changes to the site since 08 and cannot think of what would cause this. Thanks for everyones ideas in advance.

How did you earn your organic traffic? I mean what was your off site SEO? What I'm really wondering is how your site was linked to by other sites. I read that the Google's Panda update they did recently had a lot to do with how sites were linked to from other sites.

I think what they were looking for was if all the sites that linked to you were using the same exact keyword or if they were using variations of a keyword, for example plurals and synonyms.

Just a thought and I can't see any other reason your site has been affected so drastically after spending so much time doing so well within the SERPs. I would also check to see if any links in to your site were affected by Panda or if those sites just don't exist anymore.

You also mentioned that the site has been the same since 2008, maybe it's time for some fresh content and working on getting new backlinks to your site.
