    Hey guys,
Had a quick question. If I register a dropped domain that had say a PR 6. Would it be kept until the next PR update or is it automatically terminated?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hello,

You keep the page rank, of course if your partners keep your link. You need to look around if the site keep the strong backlink to your site.....

    My 2 cents,
    Jakomo

    No,
I am saying if I registered a dropped domain (it expired and is now up for registration on say godaddy) would it still have the same PR it had before it expired, or would the PR reset?
    Thanks
    Mike

It sure does until the next pagerank update, then it will get adjusted just like any other domain.

How long will it take after I register it to display the PR on PR checking sites like checkpagerank.com?
    Thanks
    Mike

Single PR without additional data to prove the strength of PR will worth nothing, so it's not the time or the high PR but the quality of the supported backlinks

Nobody can tell you the exact time it will take to drop the PR, usually it's a single Google dance and sometimes much less

There's a lot of differing opinions on this. In my experience, a dropped domain that was snapped up after it expired will have its PR reset. However, the PR usually recovers to its pre-drop value within a couple months (assuming the content on the domain is comparable to that on the old site).

Did you try this out yourself with, lets say a PR5, PR6 domain ?

And another thing, dont buy a domain just because it has PR6, check the backlinks and see if they are bought or not. If all links are bought, forget the domain, the PR will drop when the links disappear.

Yeah, I did an experiment a few months ago with a PR6 domain. It was reset to 0, and recovered to PR5 within 2 months.

I have purchased 4 expired domains from SnapNames with PR5s. I immediately put good content on the websites and worked my back links. Three of the domans dropped to PR0 then went up to PR2. One domain went to a PR2 then up to a PR3.

The PR will be the same even after you register a dropped domain.

    Good luck with it.

It must have got the PR through a 301 redirect

The PR will still stay in the Google toolbar, and on PR checkers until the next update regardless if it was a 301 or not.

Have you checked the domain using www.domain.com as well as http://domain.com
