Dropped domains and achieving good serp rankings

How does a domain being dropped recently affect it's position in the serps, especially Google? I have a couple domains that I picked up with good keywords that were dropped recently. One of these I have put original content on and got them indexed. They rank toward the top in Bing but are nowhere to be found in Google. Is this normal? Does the dropped status have an affect on how Google ranks the site? If so, does anyone have any experience on how long this takes to wear off? Thanks

My own experience with expired domains is that, once you put some content on the site, it should get back into Google after some time (unless the domain has been banned/blacklisted for some reason).
You should be able to maintain its existing backlinks and even PR in the majority of instances.

I had a problem with one of my website it dropped its rankings. But now it is picking up again but it is now picking the pages that i targeted for certain keywords in its title and stuff. What do I do to get the desired page ranked rather then the non targeted one.
