Dropped Domain Vs Expired Domain

    I am little confused.
Are expired domains also dropped domains?

Are the expired domains that I am paying an extra to buy from Godaddy Auctions also considered as dropped domains?

When I buy a domain from auctions, Whois lookup shows the original registration date (say two years back) as the registration date.. Even thought I bought it last month..

So apparently I cannot conclude if it was dropped or not.

When I bought it, the checkout process said Go Daddy Auctions - Expired Domain Purchase

So domain is expired, But is this dropped?

    What actually is dropped?
Are the domains that godaddy auctions off dropped? or it is just a change of registrant like we do when we transfer domains...
Because I am paying a RENEWAL FEE not a REGISTRATION FEE..

    CONFUSED:confused:

    Please answer ASAP..

Actually,Expired domains and dropped domains are different.

Expired domains are domains which can be back ordered by people at the same registrar.

Dropped or deleted domains can be registered at any registrar. That is,They are publicly available...

Dropped domains loose pagerank.but expired domains mostly don't loose their PR and Age..

Yes you can actually delete a domain, for example if you have a TM problem you may want to delete the domain instead of waiting for it to expire.

Even if you buy expired domain name it can loose some page rank. Make sure to register it for mutiple years not one google looks at how long you own it and register it also. Make sure it is related to same topic or try to make site and template like old one so site seems the same.
