Dropped domain is listed at eNom ... then at Snapnames. WTF?

Are eNom and Snapnames the same company? I didn't think they were. A dropped domain was listed yesterday as a 'Club Drop' auction at eNom, but failed to attract any bidders. Today, I get an email from Snapnames telling me that they've acquired the domain and that I'm currently the highest bidder in a 'private' auction!

So either eNom and Snapnames are in bed together, or Snapnames just happened to be offered the domain by eNom within 24 hours of it dropping - highly unlikely.

    Any ideas folks?

Looks like they're working together to squeeze every penny out of the potential buyer(s).

They are not the same company. Enom Club Drop is a backordering service. If they are successful in catching the name, if you have a backorder you enter a private auction with the other intersted bidders.

    dcristo,

Yes, I understand that Club Drop is a backordering service. I had backordered the domain with Pool.com and Snapnames, but not with eNom. This meant that I could not participate in the private eNom auction.

I still don't understand how the domain managed to end up at Snapnames less than 24 hours after being registered by eNom.

A little strange, wouldn't you say?
