I have a 3 month old site and was number 5 for my keyword for the last 2 weeks and yesterday I was completely dropped I cant find my site within the first 100 pages. Is this a common thing for a new site? cheers
Well MSN might not provide a gr8 traffic...but during a research in 2004/2005, it was said that- 47% of MSN search converts into purchase or returning user. it makes perfect sense becuz...there are many novice Internet users who still uses msn as their default search engine (Which comes with their default web browser IE). And usually they only do "Internet searching" when they actually NEED sumthing So to me...MSN ranking is very important!
yeah...mostly children and women use msn. so, thats not a trifle traffic to lose. msn underwent an algo change...so wait for some weeks
I was getting a lot of traffic from msn in my niche so it has been a big loss for my and I am not in any of the other search engines yet
I can just say don't panic especially if your site has been completely wipped out. Sometimes it take 2/3 days, sometimes 2/3 months to come back. Sorry if this is not what you expected.
That happened to me awhile back in msn and a few days later my site was back. It has stayed the same since then. Hope yours comes back as well. Hang in there.
Msn does not appear to have any aging process linked to it while google normally can take months to display a site. Hopefully though, your site should be appearing in the other indexes and that some other traffic starts to arrive and that msn returns back to normal. For one of my sites msn provides most traffic usually and it has also gone down some pages and traffic has halved from it. I have some on-page optimization on this site and if nothing else has changed regarding backlinks etc it may be msn putting less weight to onpage optimization factors (and therefore encouraging spam sites like google appear to prefer above new sites).
