Hi, all, I have a little mystery which I need some advice on. Ok I have a site which is a load of articles sorted into diff cats. The articles were from a datbase so all pages were basically uploaded at once. The site you can see at www.articleunlimited.com .. the categories are in subdomains. The problem is that the site is completely gone from Google ... It was indexed for about a month but lately its not showing even under the site: parameter. Strangely enough, the sub-domains all had a good PR from last update a couple of weeks ago. The subdomains are PR4 mainly from the main www page which is at PR0 .. most links are to the www page and filtered out. Could it be because of the site structure as the www. domain is really now a one page site with loads of links to other sites. Or could it be that the PR to the www page is not enough in respect to the number of links(external?) on it? Have I been banned? ... even though there are no Domain external links on it apart from on the actual articles. Duplicate content? ... but then it wouldnt result in a sitewide deindex I think. Temp Google mess up? As you can see, I'd appreciate any advice or discussions from you guys.
How many months the site runs? Try to get as many backlinks as you can. It would really help you indexed your site again. Wait for few more weeks to see your site indexed.
PR3 - Not in Google cache. Wayback is showing this site being run before in early 2006. Possible it could have been banned by Google before you aquiring it? You're getting an error here: http://articleunlimited.com/ May want to fix that or redirect that to http://www.articleunlimited.com/ just for giggles. Some may not care, but give the bots a robots.txt just for fun. The script, if not original, could have a footprint that triggered Google Ban. Just some suggestions.
Thx for replies. Rosiee, Yeah its PR3, sorry.. i don't notice PRs much and thought it was PR0 for some reason. Bondat, I will continue to get links to it but the question I suppose was why it was deindexed. Cap kangaroo, The domain was brought in sometime Mid 2006 and the site has been up for say 3 monhts... It was indexed for over a month and suddenly deindexed so the domain shouldnt be banned beforehand. The script is original but articles not. thanks for the note on the error.... Whats best robot.txt or htacess you think?
Jag, I understand the concept that quality links and content are highly regarded by SEs. I suppose I am asking the question of why the site seems to be deindexed. A lack of links shouldnt deindex a site considering sites with one PR0 unrealted link will get and stay indexed. Quality content - Alot of Article sites remains in the index, even if suppplement that has duplicate content.
Why would Google index a site built from a database of articles that are probably reproduced on thousands of other sites? What benefit does it give to its searchers? Give them a bit of credit.
I think xenyo's point is there are lot of websites with the same niche and setup that's not banned by Google. xenyo, give Google time to indexed again your site. In order to determined your site is banned check your logs. Check if Googlebots activity dropped. Use also Google.com/webmasters/tools to see how are your sites performing. there are lot of stats there that are very helpful to webmasters.
Aye, Thx for that Bondat or this thread would have turned into a different kettle of fish altogether.
Just look at your awstats. If the Google bot is not spidering your inner pages, then you are banned. Also check if you are getting any traffic from Google. "site:" command is no longer a reliable tool to check if a site is banned or not. I had a site which wasn't showing up with "site:" command for a few weeks but was getting traffic from Google. It still doesn't show up at a few data centers.
I appreciate there are lots of other similar sites in the index. However I'm 99% sure that the site has been banned because they spotted that you put up a lot of low quality content all in one go.
