Site is www.mp2kmag.com When I search for "mp2kmag" in google I think I am in position #38, until a few months ago I would solidly come up #1. There are a bunch of other terms such as "mappoint" where I used to be #3 to #5 but am now hovering in the #30's. Is this some kind of penalty or filter? What would you recommend for this specifically? Thanks, Eric
It may be the links in your footer. Matt Cutts mentioned linking to unrelated and Bad Neightborhood links a few months ago as something that can affect the indexing of your site and thus your rank. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/indexing-timeline/
Yeah I'd agree. the obviously paid links in the footer and right nav (and left nav?) are probably not looked kindly upon.
Before the drop, I was running 5 links of DP co-op ad network ads, I thought that's what did it. I removed them immediately and expected my site to bounce back but my site kept the penalty. Also, now I have removed half of the remaining footer links. Do you think I might get below a threshold and the site will bounce back automatically? Or do you think I need to submit a reinclusion request? Thanks! Eric
From what I have heard from others with similar experience, if that was the only problem, your site should bounce back quickly. If it doesn't within a few weeks or month then I would consider reinclusion but make sure you're following Google's guidelines before uou do that.
if you still rank okay (25-30 isnt horrible), a reinclusion request isnt necessary. just try to fix what the most likely culprits are and see if it works or not.
