I am currently looking into drop shipping and some of the suppliers I have seen charge a one off registration fee.Is this normal? Also I would appreciate any advice you guys could give me about the do's and don'ts.TIA. BTW I'm in the UK.
Dropshippers that charge a fee are usually people that have a list of dropship websites and they'll put you into contact with the dropshipper for a "finders fee". A real dropship company doesn't charge for signups usually.
Usually the fee is applied to purchases once your application is approved - that's not always the case.
Thankyou for your replies guys. The one I was looking at showed what they sell. They said the registration fee was a one time charge only and there would be no charges at all after that.
I've noticed these charges with a lot of UK drop-shippers too, I'm assuming they're mainly there to avoid time-wasters.
Most real drop shipper won't charge any fee. They are more interested in getting new customers and selling more. The true is that the one that charge you a fee know thier prices are so high that they won't make enough in sales and depends more in registration fee. I will avoid them. Here is a dropshipper I has used in the past. Is based on the US I know it ship to UK but I don't know if you can register from there but it do not ask for any fee and the price are good. www.cwrelectronics.com/
Their scams. Their basically middleman that make their money through memberships, and not pushing inventory, as their prices aren't low enough.
I'm looking for drop shippers too. I tried the link opiapr, and am confused. To clarify, there's no fee right? Do I ship or do they? Can you go over whole process: is it like, I sell items, customers pay me, i pay company? What is it like?
Dropshipping is the process of having orders shipped directly from the supplier so you aren't required to ever carry any inventory. It can be very worthwhile as there's a very limited risk (you don't have all this money tied up in inventory) however your margins are much smaller as you usually incur a dropship fee, and your not purchasing in bulk, so you dont get the same wholesale prices.
Thanks, but I understand that it differs from company to company, so I was inquiring about that particular company. clarification-- they buy, then you pay, right? The biggest problem I have really is finding a reliable drop shipping company, which was why i was interested in cwrelectronics.com, but need to have my questions answered.
The leading directory of dropshippers is, no doubt, http://www.worldwidebrands.com, but they charge a fee. There are some free resources like http://www.dropshiparea.com and others. But I did not come across any place where people discuss how reliable different dropship companies are.
There's no better drop ship directory than Worldwide Brands. They got me started with everything in my online businesses. The fee they charge to access their dropshipper list is miniscule compared to the time it saved me. Joey
There are many dropshippers that charge money to get set up with them and many that don't. I sugget if your starting out find one that doesn't charge any money. Because there are some dropship companys like techdata or ingrammicro that charge you 100 bucks just to see what products they sell and their prices. Those r huge companys so it would be worth it except if you don't have constant sales their prices to you will be very high. So for right now as someone previously said find one that doesn't cost any money to start at worldwidebrands
