Drop of sales & referred traffic. Problems with payments, hoplinks.

    Hi,

I read some posts on other forums where alot of vendors and affiliates are talking about this

Affiliates complain about decrease in conversion rates.

And there are alot of vendors who admit that there is an unexpected increase in unreferred sales.

There seems to be a problem with clickbank payments. Alot of vendors receive more complaints of customers telling their credit cards got denied.
I saw some vendors testing the payment system by ordering their own products from different credit cards but all were refused.
Some vendors get multiple payments from the same custormers. (Might be because the custormer could not pay and tried it again and again)

But some products have not been affected by this at all and the payment problem is coming and going

Is it the problems with the payment system for this drop of sales or is there something else wrong?
I guess maybe the increase of unreferred sales has something to do with the hoplink system.

I'm submitting my first product on clickbank very soon and I'm concerned about this.
My competitors gravity and refered sales has droped by about 50% in 3 weeks. His product has reached 130 gravity in 2 months and now its about 50.
That product has grown fast and I was expecting it to gain alot more gravity. I'm not happy to see this.
I'm pretty sure I going to have more success because my product will be way more better and over the average cb products.
But I'm thinking this issue might affect my sales too. I'm confused.

    So WHAT IS GOING ON?

I noticed some of you on this forum have similar problems.
I hope we discuss this and come to an explanation

    Thank you.

I dunno yesterday I thought was gonna be a huge day and I ended up with 2 sales in one niche I wasnt even promoting that day or the day before, and none in my main niche that I sent 140 highly targetted uniques to my lander that converts at 1:35. I have always thought I should have been getting 2-3 more sales a day than what I am. I think whats throwing me off is that alot of my sales never come the day the person visits, they usually come back a day or even a few days later and then buy it.

    Bingo...Same here.

I'm seeing conversions from links I put up like 4-6 months ago but NONE from my current promotions.

Don't know if it's the nature of the market, August holidays, or something else.

thats another thing, my adwords conversions have dropped dramatically. I have every single keyword tracked and usually get 1-3 sales a day from adwords alone. Lately ive been getting about the same amount of sales, but maybe 1 sale from adwords every 3 days or so. Im not sure if the tracking is fucked on clickbanks end or my bum marketing methods I just started are converting that well. Because most of my bum marketing has no tracking. So I figure if I get a sale with no TID its from bum not adwords.

Unless people are directly coming back to my landing page a day or two later, then click the link again and overwrite my tracked cookie with a blank one. But still, I never had this problem with untracked sales until just last week

Same story here, had 2 sales, but had enough traffic for 6 or 7 at my usual conversion rate. And both my sales were from Canada, none from US. I usually get a Canada about every other day, not twice in one day with no US...

The economy is in a slum so people have less money to blow on ebooks, etc. across the board sales are down (and yes, I know energy products are working).

Have their been an update recently that im not aware of?

My stats looked fishy as well when i saw several multiple sales of the same person. First sale with credit cards, then the same person using Paypal...Probably the Credit card didnt worked(but it charged them), then they tried with paypal...

this would actually be good news if something is not working right or payments are being declined because I have no other explanation as to why I am not getting increased sales with my substantial increase in traffic.

This actually happened a few months ago, but someone bought a product with an American credit card, than 5 minutes later with a Canadian credit card. Obviously, I got one refund, but it was definitely weird.

Well I'm sure there is something wrong with the payment system. There are so many people who have recently seen multiple payments the first time on clickbank. And as I said, I read on another forum that couple of vendors tried to buy their own products and they couldn't. It seems to be fine for some of us, and for those who experience low sales there is probably a high percentage of custormers who could not but the product even if they wanted to. But no one knows why this happens.

I'm really curious and want to know what the problem is, because for some people sales went half the way down and It might happen to our products too.

Well, it's the summer, you know. And the Olympics are on. My sales have virtually been cut in half since the Olympics.

Hello, I've been a regular reader of DP for over 2 years, since starting with Clickbank in late 2006 - so I'm familiar with the hoplink, payment ect issues from time to time. Heres my first post, its taken me 2 years.:)

2006/07 were better years for sales for me in the antispyware product range, same traffic from google adwords, same keywords. This year very problematic, with getting commission from clickbank sales. and yes hoplinks do show in the order pages.

I'm thinking the servers that process hoplinks and payments commissions are being hammered 100% to the point that not all affiliate sales can be tracked or credited properly. This is a capacity planning issue, that is the job of IT department to monitor and produce reports, which tells them when they need to add more server processing capacity to keep up with the demand - guess what ! that takes money!

"Grow clickbank, but also grow the servers at the same time":D

It's very true that the summer season affects sales. People are going on vacation and are not much online. Thats happening every year and sales increase after a time. But I don't think that it has such a huge impact that a product nearly looses all it's gravity. And it doesn't explain the payment problems.

Glad to see you participating my friend and sharing your view the first time on my thread :) Thank you very much.

It makes sense what you said. The hoplink and payment processor are both on the same server (clickbank.net). It recieves really lots of traffic and there is a chance that the servers processing capacity is not enought to handle all the requests. If this is the case clickbank really has to make big improvements which takes money. I wonder if clickbank hasn't got the money who the hell does? They make so much. And this problem we are facing is really critical which will kill all clickbanks reputation in time if they don't act quick.

It would be a big help, if there was a facility as an affiliate to make a zero value dummy purchase through any clickbank merchant, thus confirming a zero value commission in affiliate stats - and proving that hoplink, payment is working and healthy. ;)
