you were right on the money SEO_Expert.

Im now 7/8 rank depending on the datacenters. im happy with that. Its only a PR3. Now to beat the big guys I need at least PR5.... that could take a while!

I have experienced the same problem with my site recently. I updated the optimization to include h1 and h2 tags and saw my rankings drop from some top 10's to 3rd and 4th pages. In addition on some keywords I have begun optimizing for that are more competative I moved from the 4th and 5th pages to past page 10.

Very frustrating to have my efforts rewarded with this drop. I am going to give it a few weeks before I revert back to my old setup in case it is simply a matter of it stabalizing in the rankings.

Do you guys feel that h1 and h2 tags (used only once each per a page & in proper order) are still beneficial? Because I run an ecommerce site, I do have keywords repeated numerous times on product listing pages but I don't feel I have intentionally overstuffed any content.

All On-page factors/variables work together to create an optimized page or a site.

Also having very first line in H1 tag with your most important keywords does help and is beneficial.

May be the inner pages are not as optimized for the targetting keywords that the home page.

Additionaly, home page having higher PR then inner page, it could be that they rank better for the same keywords then inner pages.

you might be right about targetting. I dont believe the PR has too much to do with it though because all my inner pages are PR2. which is fairly high for an inner page.

    example:

    http://www.largemouthbasstips.com/3winter.htm

    Winter Bass Fishing - PR2

if i type this into a google search i show up at about 34-40.. right behind an ezine article at PR0. and above me are a few sites about salmon fishing.

I will experiment with optimizing this page and report on my success.

    zibzer ...
When your site climbed back onto page 1 did you do anything to the pages or did you just wait?
If you waited how long before you saw the results back to the standard they were before the seo changes?

heres exactly what happened (well at least how i remember it):

i changed the Title. and the H1 header. (and then i waited)

next day I rose maybe 1 or 2 spots depending on datacenter

1 week later my website got cached by google and immediately dropped substantially in rankings.

4-5 days afterwords my site was jumping all over on every datacenter

couple days later i received a very good 1st page position between 7 and 8.

it took maybe 1 more day to stabalize at number 6

so in a nutshell ... you changed the on page seo (titles and h1's etc)
You dropped 3/4 pages when you was re cached.
You changed back to the original titles/h1's
And then moved back up onto page 1?

Is this correct? or did you NOT change the titles/h1's back to the original style.

i did NOT change back to origional title and H1. I changed the first time and i waited to see what would happen.

waiting brought me to page 1.

so basically. If you make a change to your website. be patient and waite a few weeks to see what google will do.
