Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a drop in the average value of Adsense clicks since the beginning of the year? The average for me is down by about 50% (page views are slightly down (5%), while the CTR has remained stable (6%)). I have only been using Adsense for about 8 months now, so I am guessing at at this time of the year advertisers are spending less, especially the big tech names (my niches). Does anyone have similar experience?
Yeah I'm the same, views and CTR stable, CPC and RPM down 40-50%. Not that I wish it on you but glad I'm not the only one, hoping it's just January.
Lets hope it's just January, and cpc and rpm go back up to their normal levels. Wish we weren't in this boat.
Advertisers spent lots of money in November and December, so they are cutting their expenditure in January
Not only the advertisers, the buyers also spent a lot on the seasonal sales to buy the things at a cheaper price. Therefore there may be a drop of impressions as well as CTR too. Less interest to spend money in these days from both advertisers as well as buyers. This is something general situation.
yes this is also one of the reason for this. I think the CPC will start increasing from mid of february (in general, not applicable for all niche)
January has been our worst month in the last seven. CPC is less than half what it normally had been. It's killing my earnings. I sure hope it rebounds.
for me also CPC is way too low, as other members here put their views on cpc increment in upcoming months. I hope they are right
I'm also experiencing the same issues in my Adsense A/c. Let's wait & see the results of the first week of Feb.
I am also getting less CPC since December, dont know whats the problem but it has affected my earnings a lot...
Don't worry about it, mate. As others have said, it always happens due to people having spent a lot already. Mind you, tablets and smartphones traffic is huge these days. Check your analytics to see what volume of traffic you're getting from them. If it's quite significant, you can make changes to your site to ensure you aren't losing out on earnings for that traffic. A responsive design approach will make it easier to develop a theme that displays well regardless of device viewing it. Use an ad format of appropriate size (such as 300x250), too, rather than one that looks ridiculous on a smartphone.
Lol this is pathetic. I used to be earning $2-$5/day last month and now this month i'm getting $0.05-$0.10/day. Is that normal at ALL?
So I'm not the only one that's noticed this. Mine has dropped about 30% in cpc this month versus what I was getting the last 3 months of 2012. My main adsense site is in the music industry. I didn't have the site last year this time so not sure if that's typical or not but seems to be consistent with what a few others of you are seeing. My only conclusion is that people are spending less now.
Mostly drop rate I'm seeing these days in CPC.. it may be that Google Adsense changed its calculation method, or it may be that advertisers are rewarded more to get more business, the margin rate may also be increased to earn profit.
Take off your tinfoil hat, throw aside the paranoia and read the whole thread - it's explained why. Also do a search of Google (or Bing or whatever you prefer) and you'll find it's normal.
