Hi all, While doing a deep-dive on my blog's analytics, I noticed that people aren't delving too deeply into my older content. Have you any recommendations for strategies to drive people from my home page to other posts on the blog? I'm thinking of things like setting up house ads to drive people to other content on the site - what have people tried that has worked (or has failed) for them? Thanks, Ivan
I dont really tend to dwell on past entries. I guess it would depend on your topic though. Humor readers want something new and funny daily, so it really does me no good to show them old posts they might have seen already. Search engines do a good job directing traffic to my older posts. For you, I would say create a post and link back to a bunch of previous posts you have made.
Try placing a "Most popular posts" widget on your sidebar (not necessarily the posts that have the most comments, but maybe those that you consider the best). Also, use a "Related posts" plugin at the end of your posts that links to about 5 similar posts - I have noticed many people click on that after reading a post.
In addition you may like to show a list of Related Posts right below the post body. After reading the post if the reader find something else interesting and related to the topic then it's likely to may draw his/her attention. In the post body if you mention something you have already discussed in length in some other older article then don't forget to have the link there. Thanks, Geek http://geekexplains.blogspot.com
