Driving traffic to your adsense site

    Hello DP members.

I started a website that is about 2 months old now and is currently making around $12 a day from adsense, which is a big achievement for me as I only started IM six months ago.

Nearly all my traffic comes from forums but I have been working hard on trying to get into the search engines. I have been building many back links from, article submission, directory submission, bookmarks, comments on blogs, etc, Currently I have 93 back links in google (more than my number competitor) but still cant rank in the top 10 pages. My guess is that because the site is new google have sandboxed it. Please correct me if I am wrong.

While my site is sandboxed what else can I do to drive traffic to my adsense site? I am afraid that forum traffic wont last forever. I started an opt in list to try to get repeat visitors but only one person has signed up.
    the web site is nissanskyline.6te.net
    Cheers

There is a difference between an Opt-In list, and Pestering Opt-In list, unfortunately. That annoyed me when I went to your site and that thing dropped down telling me to sign up. No thanks.

If you're in this for the long haul, I would suggest getting your own domain, and on top of that, tinkering with some site analyzers to get it optimized as best you can, then just build quality back links with good anchor text, and let your site age :). Congrats on your earnings for only two months...That's not bad, not at all. (Though I'm guessing cars have a high PPC payout)

    wish I was on $12 a day I average about $3.00

But after some changes I could be on a spike or things could be starting to pick up but today has been my best in about a month and massive amount of clicks compared to usual.

All related to some new blending and positioning and the tracking I am doing is indicating exactly what I expected so I am hopefully on the way to something good here.

What you are doing si right just keep getting back links etc

Munna, only with this site (http://nissanskyline.6te.net) you have got $12 avg. per day? And this just from AdSense, because I can see other ads too? I don't know, maybe these other ads are because you use free hosting service?

If so, this is great achievement. Have a nice day.

Thanks guys stick at it you will get there. Travis I think I might remove the opt in list from the first page im sure most people find it an anoyance. I have been thinking about getting my own domain but thought I have already done so much work promoting the old one. Should I just buy a new one and have the old one redirect to it? Will the search engines frown on my site for been hosted on a subdomain. I am in it for the long hall
    cheers

I don't think they will frown on it...but if you want people to come back -- You have to have a unique name not some subdomain off some weird TLD. If you did a proper 301 redirect users would get sent to the new site automatically...and Google would (eventually) give you your current ranking.

thanks travis I will need to learn how to do a 301 redirect sounds like it is probably worth the effort to get it hosted on with its own domain name.

He's making the money he's making cus of the ridiculously great google ad pictures.

Someone comes to a car site, sees cars, clicks, its not brain surgery. They dont even look like google ads.

Muna, is there an option you selected to only display picture ads?

bite the bullet now before you sink more time and effort into a domain name that is 'temporary'... i can bet you that when your site gets more successful, you will wish that you had your own domain name...

If you want visitors and more backlinks, use digg and myspace or submit a video to youtube.

All the ads are text ads I have just placed the pictures above the ads this really helps click though rates. I wrote this article not long ago it has a few tips and tricks in it they may help you earn more with adsense you dont need huge traffic just a clever design, and targeted traffic. http://www.golf-teaching-tool.net/adwords/free-book.htm. I will warn you that this page does contain affilite links and google ads. The article is near the top of the page and titled 'making more than pennies with adsense'.

I am also an afiliate for 5 star shine (banner on the top of the page) but have not made $1 from that yet, it would be nice to find another source of revenue for the site but I cant find anything on CJ or clickbank.

For those who said to use myspace I have been reading up on this sounds like a great idea.
    thankyou all for your help

I am sure that putting pictures next to each ad in the ad block is against Adsense TOS. I think many people have done it and they said that you can only do it if you put a border either around the image or the ad unit.

I have not gone into this so I could not be 100% correct.
