Driving Traffic to My Site/Blog

I have a friend who owns a very large website in which has thousands of people going to his site everyday. He offered to help me out by driving traffic to my site and he wants to know what is the best way to do this where it will also help better my seo results.

-Web banners?
-A hyper link on his site to mine?

Any other suggestions would be really appreciated.. Thanks...

 

Backlinks perhaps? If he has a huge following like that, maybe he can make a post about your site.
