I just bought a domain and am looking for a good host, but can someone give me some advice on webpage programs?

I am thinking of getting Dreamweaver.

Here is what I will be doing:
    Little coding background, now much
Already have a nice pre-built template, so I just want to add content each day and up load it.

Just want something nice and simple.
    Thanks

Dreamweaver is a nice program, but it can be a bit on the expensive side to get it legitimately.

Another program you may want to consider shich is open source is nvu. Check www.nvu.com.

I use Dreamweaver, the only problem I have with it is tat you can't edit file permissions with it. I normally use Filezilla to do that.

I swear by dreamweaver. I used to use frontpage a few years back, but found that it was trying to auto correct PHP codes, and screwed up the prgramming. Dreamweaver is what I'd reccomend

As for the file permissions you set them with an FTP program.

I love dreamweaver as well, it's great but honestly if you plan on adding content daily you really should consider a CMS. Trust me, been there... easier to do it now than to later after you've written 1,00 pages by hand and get burned out spending 20 minutes to do one page.

Well all really depends on your templates, if thats an html template, it should be ok!
If thats a Photoshop generated html file, then you sure must touch it only when you know what they are doing!
Since editing PSD generated htmls is not everyone's cup of tea!

frontpage is not bad either. I don't find any problem in frontpage. But for some extra functionality some times I need to switch to dreamweaver.

I think Dreamweaver is the best. The price is really worth it in the long run. I started using Dreamweaver just to do basic uploading and other minor things and in the process learned so much. Now I can make full websites using CSS, PHP, Databases and lots more. Dreamweaver is a great teacher.

I love using Dreamweaver too. I've started using a CMS for some sites. It really all just depends on what you want to do with the site.

There are alternatives to buying a costly program as Dreamweaver. Two
cheaper programs are AceHTML and CoffeeCup. They are very capable
programs, and have also a free version that can be later upgraded.

Yea, i got one of those free templates. Its a flash one.

Now, can I just copy the code into dreamweaver and edit it to my liking?

    Thanks

I use DW as well. I tried a couple programs for linux to serve a similar purpose and couldn't find one to take DW's place.

Dreamweaver is super intuitive, has more features than I even know how to use, and gets better (maybe even faster?) with each version.

And there's also no reason why you can't use DW in addition/conjunction with a CMS. The program offers more than basic design stuff, such as file management, ftp, file searching, synchronization, etc.

I guess I'm a big fan; I've tried some others (including on other OS) and there was really no contest.

You should be able to get a 30-day trial from adobe. If you need more time don't forget to ask; they'll usually give it to you. :)
