Microsoft has not sold FrontPage in several years. It produced the most horrid markup you could imagine.

Third Option is Notepad. But if you want to pick from those two, Dreamweaver.

To say this question is highly redundant would be an understatement. You are comparing a dead product to one that is still in use. As such, Dreamweaver is the obvious winner.

Perhaps a better comparison would have been between Dreamweaver and Microsoft Expression Web. Expression Web is a vastly superior product to Frontpage with clean code and CSS creation/manipulation I found easier than Dreamweaver. I found Dreamweaver and Expression Web to both have their pluses and minuses.

There comes a time however when many webdesigners move away from products such as these to something like Notepad(++) as it becomes pretty intuitive to write after some practice.

I'd agree with you on that. Expression Web is wonderful if you're looking for easy of use and something to make a quick and dirty website. Dreamweaver, in the end, if you know what you're doing, will make the nicer website of the two programs though.

Dreamweaver, but I personally don't like using WYSIWYG editors at all. Purely from scratch is the way to go, and I suggest anyone getting into the game learns that early.
