    Hi,

I have faced a dreamweaver related problem which I can't understand why it's happening. When I open a html file in Dreamweaver Mx 2004 and try to edit and got an error message. The screenshot is attached below. I can't understand where the problem is. Is it for software problem or the html file problem.

    Please help me.

I got some information from microsoft website. Please view below url

Software problem most likely, not much can go wrong with opening a HTML file (which is made up of plain text). Also, DW seems to have a reputation for crashing randomly for unknown reasons, at least from what I hear time to time on forums and such. If it always happens at a certain point, I'd reboot the computer and see if that changes anything and if that is to no avail, reinstall DW.

Are you using a Dreamweaver template? Does your problem HTML document use a weird encoding, or does it have non-native characters that don't match that encoding? Is it so badly corrupted or so badly coded Dreamweaver crashes?

Consider posting it as a .txt file for a little bit more of an insight.

It's probably a mixture of both, since if it's any HTML file it'll be a software error, but it could be the markup too. If it's just a single file, it'll also be the same combination.

    Hi All,

Our html file is not encoded. It is simply plain html and this html is w3 xhtml validated. There is no non-native characters. The error come when I try to edit it.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks,
    Piyal

I have a similiar problem, but it only occurs when i try to change a link and dreamweaver tries to update the rest of the site to accomodate the new link.

I am thinking it is related to the windows setup I have as i have used it on a 32 bit system for the same site and never encountered the problem.

Currently running: windows xp 64 bit
    CPU: AMD 3000+ 64 Bit
    Memory: 2GB

Do you have a similiar setup?
