I think the problem is caused by the site manager. Nothing to do with the spec of you computer.

I used too use DW in the end, practically pointless on waiting 5 minutes for it to load up. I prefer using PHP Personal Designer (Free software). Loads up really fast, doesn't use much CPU usage.

all CS3 products use alot of CPU

they have to many useless features added by Adobe so they can show off a long list of stuff.......

I use expression web now, as it seems to be alot better.

    I got my DW8 down to between 0% and 1% processor usage from 30% - 40%!!!

It was bugging me big time as my computer with 20 odd firefox tabs open and a few other programs only use 2% between them all.

    Try this people

This is what i changed and I don't know what actually fixed it allthough I believe the status bar setting & the ftp setting might be the ones.. so you'll have to experiment a little.

In the Preferences under edit deselect/change the following..

    Uncheck show start page
    Uncheck use <strong> instead of...
Choose firefox as your default preview browser
Under "Site" change ftp to dissconnect every 1 min
On "status bar" options change connection speed to "1500" (this is what i believe did it!)

Good luck guys! My dreamweaver no-longer burns out my computer!!

Let me know how you get on, I've already told a few people this today & they are reporting 0% on idle which is fantastic!!

    Hi I
    found the answer on
The CAFE » Dreamweaver » Has anyone else noticed DW Cs3 using a lot of processor cpu even when sitting idle?

    http://www.photoshopcafe.com/cafe/vi....php?tid=42997

a dreamweaver.exe in zip almost at the bottom
    And this one works

My computer seems to do the same thing and I have a 2.8ghz 8 core I7 with 12gb ram. I am using CS6 so it seems to be the program just uses up a lot of resources.
