Can I convert a site created with Dreamweaver to Microsoft Visual Developer, Quanta Plus or Aptana? How is it done?
Whilst it is surely possible as they all "in the end" output HTML, what they vomit up and call HTML is typically such inept rubbish you'd be better off starting over from scratch. As I often say, the only thing you can learn from Dreamweaver is how NOT to build a website -- and it's the BEST of the lot. Those other tools you mentioned just get progressively worse. Hence why on my tools page: http://www.cutcodedown.com/article/tools_of_the_trade I pretty well take Dreamweaver to task. While it is THEORETICALLY possible to produce quality sites using Dreamweaver by sticking to STRICTLY the code edit view, I've not seen it done in practice. Almost everything DW or any other "visual" tool handles for you it does WRONG. The end result is bloated, broken inaccessible train wreck laundry lists of how NOT to build a website. This gets worse the more you depend on it to "do things for you". Go get a flat text editor (aka "notepad replacement) like editplus, Flo's notepad2, notepad++, crimson, sublime -- whatever, and kick the stupid broken "visual" tools to the curb before they make you the tool. It is guaranteed if that's "all you know" that everything you have built with DW is a broken mess. At best Dreamweaver, Visual Studio and their kin/kine are a crutch for the inept and ignorant -- at worst they are an outright scam promoting buggy, broken, halfwit mouth-breathing dumbass methodologies that have ZERO business on a website in the first place!!!
