DreamHost.com Sucks

So I was going about my daily webmastering business, and decided to use Dream Host for a site I bought since it was currently registered through their company. I get a coupon code for $50 and pay the remaining $69 for one year of hosting. I contact them regarding a domain transfer from one DreamHost account to mine.
About one hour later I get this response from them:

"Thanks for the e-mail, while it is possible to move the domain between
accounts, the site will go down during the process as you and the other
person are on separate clusters of servers.

Another problem I noticed, is that you have a discount code on your
account, we are unable to do transfers of domains while their is a
discount code on the account for the first year.

So at this point what will need to happen, is once your account has been
approved, you will then need to request to have the discount code
removed. You will need to pay the $50 discount you received for this
    account.

After these have happened, we can transfer the domain to your account.

I hope this has been of some assistance, if I can further assist you
    please do let me know.

    Thanks!
    Chris"

In addition to them not honoring the coupon the site did not accept paypal, they do not have 24/7 phone support, and in my opinion, they are just plain terrible. Anyways, just thought I would share this with others so no one else gets burned. I am currently awaiting a refund from them not because of the $50, but because of the principle of the matter. Here was my email response to them by the way:

    "Hey,

This is absolutely ridiculous if I would have known about the discount coupon I wouldn't have purchased the hosting in the first place. Just refund my payment and I will go host it on a competitors website.

    Best Regards,
    Ryan Lawson

    To improve your site:
    - Accept Paypal
    - Accept coupons for transfers
    - Accept pay by the month without a setup fee
    - Offer 24/7 phone hotline
    - and about 5 million other things.
    "

    Round Two Coming Soon!

You cant demand that a company is going to accept Paypal! Paypal is fraudsters home number 1 and i can pretty much understand why they dont accept it!

Second, that they don't move the domain to your account because you have used a coupon is just plane stupid and is a way to try and get you to pay more...

May i ask, were you just looking to get the domain moved from his client account to yours? Or were you looking to get the entire site moved from his webhosting account to yours ?

One more thing, if you were looking to get the entire website moved! Then i don't see how this would cause a problem as that is what an cluster is for! To use the same nameservers on all servers and be able to move accounts between all the servers with no downtime at all...

    Thanks,
    Freddy

Would it not be better to just transfer the particular domain to another registrar?

Actually DreamHost accepts PayPal, I paid with it and I am very satisfied for now with them, since I don't have an issue of transferring a domain with them...

When I mistakenly subscribed dreamhost, I only can see 2 types of payment, check and google checkout. I asked my money back 4 days later because my account are still pending and no one from DH bothered to manually activate my account. Two emails are never answered.
