opensiteexplorer.org, ahrefs.com and majesticseo.com are a few sites you can use to find the backlinks of a site (or individual page). It requires manual review to identify which ones are poor (don't just rely upon numbers or think higher ones are necessarily more trustworthy). For example, if someone's backlinks are just blog comments, article directories and similar, then I wouldn't want to host their guest post and link to them. As you do more reviews, you'll gain an eye for what's good/bad and spend less time reviewing.

Thanks, is there any free tool available? For instance, opensiteexplorer and "linkdex" are great tools but we need to pay. Is there anything similar to this for free?

opensiteexplorer.org has limited amount of searches (three per day?) for free, which should be enough unless you're planning on taking a stupid amount of guest posts per month?

I was planning to take only 1-2 posts daily and not more. Do you think my idea is stupid here? Also where do you think I should provide the link from? Author bio or in-text? or both as they ask me for?

Read the link I provided, it's answered in there. But I would say the author bio should be to their social media pages and links should be in the content. Links to the site in the author bio are 1) just like an article site, 2) really easy to detect as an author bio, why give weight to keyword rich links there?, 3) the author bio is supposed to be about the author, so social media links are the right thing for there.

Regarding the number of posts, it really depends - what is this time worth to you? Two posts might be OK, but what do you predict to earn from those posts (I assume you have advertising on the site and make your money this way).

Currently I have about 150 articles and receiving around 400-500 unique visits per day. I'm just making "a bit" through adsense. Also have plans of creating an advert. space on the site. I'm thinking of flipping the site after it reaches about 2000 visits per day. Can I do something better with my site?

I can't find anything wrong in guest posting. It's also a way to interact with readers (many can be interested in guest posting, and guest writers can become fans of your posts).
At the same time, there's some "link juice" movement between related blogs, which is another good thing, anyway.
