drastic slowing down of Googlebot

    Anyone else notice this?

    I first detected it about an hour ago. Spotty visits from Googlebot, triggered mainly by AdSense's Mediapartners, instead of the usual steady stream.

    Other factors (indexing, serp performance, etc) normal.

    that could be it. one of my other sites went viral on twitter and the server was a bit overloaded. i see googlebot has started to come back... it was almost totally gone for a couple of hours. that NEVER happened before. anyway, false alarm people sorry.
