I noticed a drastic drop in income starting January 2011. I thought it was temporary, but the same is continuing throughout february now. There has been no major or minor upgrade to the website and everything is still the same at it was in last year. Visitors same as before. Impressions same as before. clicks have gone down by half. Income has gone down by half. Adsense is running only on one website at the moment. Anyone else is facing this issue? Dave
my earnings gone down in january and feb with respect to december but they are still higher then other months of last year may be we all earned a little more in december then we expected
Hey dairyman, source is still the same with the same keywords. there has been no change whatsover. @Mightee, dont think so, my income has been steady throughout 2010 from Jan-Dec. dave
There is not such issue with me. I am earning the amount that was in last year. However this issue have faced in past but right now happy with my earning.
You said traffic is the same but the ctr has gone down. Its just my guess maybe you are getting returning visitors to your site and they are familiar with your ad positioning so they are ad blind. It might help if you change the theme and move around the ads a little bit.
Some said was due to Superbowl if your advertisers are mainly US targeting at US buyer, then it could be it.
On the site where I publish articles for 60% adsense split the traffic is the same level, uniques are same level but ctr is half what it was in December and so is pay pc. Many of the writers are seeing the same. There is talk about the quality of ads not being as good. Mainly the ads are not relevant to the content. If it is widespread then Adsense must be suffering similarly so they'll put it right. Also talk about the algorithm changed. I was pleased about this as plagiarisers will be wasting their time as only the original gets to be ranked. (There's been lots of people calling for this but it has only just come about). Also some people reckon that bad spelling is being penalised. If this is the case I should be doing much better being a) original and b) having good English.
Try to change ad placement and create new adsense units. remove old code and add channels according to your current website content. Be careful in ad placement as user's may avoid using your website if excessive ads are displayed in between the original content
I think this is the best response here. If you're getting the same amount of traffic but lower conversions I would assume as well that it's repeat visitors who ignore your ads because they are used to their placement.
