I've been working on a site that contains user profiles and really wanted a quick drag and drop style editing. The functionality was originally brought to my attention by a co-worker based off what she had seen on her Live account and I recently noticed MySpace 2.0 profiles work in a similar fashion. I'm going to make a quick assumption that its mostly AJAX based and after recently reformatting someone's PC who tried to visit MySpace; had to install flash to edit her profile. Assuming that plays a role somewhere as well. Anyone have some suggestions on what I should try running through Google? I've spent most of my time working with php and I have zero experience with AJAX. Spent some free time on w3schools and sourceforge earlier today and will probably finish off the rest of my weekend there as well. I know I could achieve a similar style in php but it would be slower and probably incorporate an options page and a refresh. Some of the employees aren't too computer savvy and I think this method would be a great aide in preventing future headaches. Just looking for some info and direction, if I could cut out some down time I think my boss would be happy to see I thought about down/productivity time while developing. (I WOULD LOVE YOU FOREVER IF YOU SHARED! ) Any help, comments, and/or suggestions would be appreciated!
