Dr. Phil/hitting women

Watched an episode of Dr.Phil on domestic violence. He made comments I think are wrong. He berated this man over and over telling him even if a woman slaps him over and over and over until he is bloodied and bruised and his tongue falls out he is never ever ever to lay a hand on a woman.

I heard this all my life and and think it is load of bullshit, old outdated feminist or even paternalistic attitude. I think he plays to an audience of women and knows what they want to hear.

I feel bad for guys who live by that old rule and end up getting used and abused.

I never had to be in that situation but I have seen women who used it to bully men. Men have a right to defend themselves as much as anyone I think, and where I come from the women are usually bigger than the men. :D

I agree with him, there are ways to restrain w/o hitting a woman.

I also consider the guy normally to be a joke, and truthfully do not care for him one bit.

I'm also annoyed by that gender rule. If a person hits you, then you should be allowed to hit them back unless there is an uncontrollable reason for it. Now if things are out of hand, if possible report it to proper authorities before it gets worse.

Hit a woman in front of me, I don't care what she did and I guarantee you that you'll wish you had some restraint as I will not.

    ---
Now a woman hits another woman, not much I can do on that ;)

The problem with hitting a woman back is, Law Enforcement will arrest the primary physical aggressor.

    For example:

If she hits you (male) and leaves a red mark on your face and you hit her back and she gets a bloody nose, busted lip, or any injury, the man will be considered the primary physical aggressor and will be arrested. At least this is the way it is done in Nevada.

There's a difference between hitting a woman and striking out in defense!
I ain't gonna just stand there when a woman is trying to slash me to pieces with a knife and she's bigger and stronger than me!

It depends on the situation. I agree no one should be using violence to calm a situation but in defense is a completely different story.

A knife last resort 'might' change things, that's really stretching things into more than what the original intent of this thread appears to be.

Even then there are ways to restrain..

If I defend myself and you jump in blind then you deserve the beat down that will surely get.

Ex: If I catch abusing my wife or child and she physically (ex: pulls a knife) goes off on me because she knows "men can't hit women" and she has some idiot with no restraint defending her abuse of me, my family or my child.

Yes vato you will get beat down...

    ;)

    BTW mr tough guy
If you're so tough, surely you do not need to hit a woman.

Sounds to me like you get off on it.

Ohh now its different huh? A knife doesn't change things or a gun..." a man never lays a hand on a woman period"

Either you do or you don't! If you don't then take the damn bullet like a good boy and shut up.

The whole premise is nonsense. Everyone has the right to defend themselves.

Never had to be in that position although I was raised by women who could be as abusive as anyone. Actually since I am such a peaceful person I've attracted a few women who thought that was a green light act that way.

I just wouldn't put up with it, I find another. Ironically the guys I see who are the beaters are the hypocrital old school guys who have the old attitude of "men never lay a hand on a woman".

    Weird how that works.

Besides I have no respect for any man who wouldn't defend himself, his child or his woman from another simply because of some silly old rule.

Not putting up with it is different than hitting back.
I know many guys who beat woman, they are not the 'wont lay a hand' there are those who say it and are those who mean it.

It's funny all of them make excuses for doing it, pretty much the way you are sounding off.

    I have my reasons...........

The last guy who hit a woman in front of me is lucky I was passed out drunk, people at the party woke me up just enough to crawl down the stairs, see him throw her, I was able to remain awake just enough to take him by the fucking throat and smash him into the concrete. Scraping his face pretty badly, breaking his hand and a few other injuries.

He deserved every bit of it, wish I would have been sober so I could have done some real damage.

Ohyeah I myself am also 'peaceful' unless someone fucks with a friend or family member of mine, or a 'woman' in front of me. Then the beast is released.

I guess you wont try cashing that check ;)

Funny, I have no respect for a man who had to hit a woman. I guess since you were in the position since others had the green light you must not have respect for yourself? You say you were not in the position, yet they thought they had a green light to act that way.

There are ways to restrain a woman to protect the ones you love w/o hitting them. That is of course if you're a man.

I was actually incorrect in the above, the last time I got in a fight a guy threw my wife.

I took that sob who was much, much bigger than even me, threw him down on a table where several people had to pull him off of me.

That type of shit just doesn't fly with me, absolutely no excuse for it, none.

Sad to hear you were passed out drunk, hope that works out. The reason I never had to be in the position is because I have enough sense to know to find a better woman.

Passing out drunk, grabbing throats, smashing faces and breaking bones?

Sounds like you have problems not me. Don't be surprised if you wake up one day from a blackout in a jail charged with domestic violence.

Its real simple: everyone has the right to defend themselves......
