if you visit the fake url, you must logout then try to login and used different password. the site might have a cookie grabber or smething that can decipher your password. Well i'm not sure if the cracker is can do it in vbulletin but i seen it on other forum base site.

    Probably.
There are lots of these phishing scams going on at the moment - they try and lure people in by making an attractive offer (like $50 to guess to number). Check this forum and you'll find 5 or 6 threads already about this.
Interestingly some of these phishers are using DP accounts which are several months old. Think carefully before clicking any PM link.

    What the hell is this??

I think that my DP id is being phished or hacked..

Somehow people are receiving PMs from me saying i need egold.. but i am not sending those PMs.. Those PMs are not even in my sent list.

I have mentioned this in a thread also.. First a frnd of mine got this message at 5 am India Time and i was asleep at that time.. HE contacted me - i changed my passwords..

Have a look at the thread i created..

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=665112

Now another guy called 'Earning' replied to one pof those emails.. but i never sent them...

    Wonder whats going on??

I have also sent PMs to the MODS regarding this..

Hope this would be sought out..

I'm certain I wasn't phished, however, I changed my pass anyways:)

I believe DP could benefit from the following

    1. Users must have a certain amount of quality posts before entering the buy/sell/trade sections.

    2. Users must have a certain amount of quality posts before the private messaging is allowed.

    3. Get some mods that will actually do the work to clean this place up. I know there are some good ones here
already, but not all of them.

    4. Put an end to all of the "reply in this thread and I'll pm you this...." Looks horrible

    5. Maybe create an initiation forum? Where a mod must determine whether or not a new member is granted
access to the rest of the forum

The accounts aren't worth much. All it takes is for the original account owner to report the account theft with proof of ownership and the username is history. Hell, even if the owner doesn't come up and report it, the slightest hint of malicious activity from an account should get it banned.

So, in that light, you can only make a couple of bucks with all this pointless phishing. Now I'm wondering now why a prick like you would throw a valuable domain like forums-digitalpoint.com down the drain just for some chump change.

You managed to phish my account yesterday and for someone clever enough to fool me , I would've expected better. If you didn't like DP for some reason, if someone had hurt your fragile, wussy sentiments, you could've just left. The domain could've been sold for a sizable amount legitimately.

    Idiot.

cheapologo pm'ed me the same message leading to that thread, it's also a scam url.

looks like his account was stolen from the same scam and used to do the scammers bidding.

What we need to do is make it so in order to change your password you have to verify the change through email. That way if someone phishes your DP account they can't change your password to block you out.

The forum software does work like that... they're not trying control the account for long, just long enough to piss you off and get you banned! This creates work for the dp admins and should make them regret the recent rule changes.

A flaw in the software, I suspect, is that after they've logged in you can change your password but their cookies continue to show them as logged in.
-- edit: the good folk at vB tell me that's not the case.
