    Hi Digital point support (hopefully)

I'm a recent new member, I joined because I need to urgently buy links for a client and was pointed to DP to achieve this. Because I'm a new member I can't post a WTB thread in the buy/sell section so I had to resort to doing a search for people selling links and PMing them individually.

I've now been banned from PMing, presumably because I look like a spammer. I'm not, I was quite happy to sign up to DP except this wouldn't have given me any faster access to the buy/sell section.

Please can the PM ban be lifted or can I join up and be fast tracked to be able to post a WTB thread in the buy/sell section?

    Thanks in advance

(BTW, my user name is supposed to say Digitalis Extremis and it wasn't until after I joined that I realised it looks like it says Digital sex tremis.... not intentional!)

You broke the rules dude . To change your name you need to pay and if you want the ban lifted you need better explain how you got your PM ban .

Bans for spamming via a PM are automatic. Ban period is a direct correlation of number of unsolicited PMs sent.

    Thanks for the speedy response.

Not being a habitual PMer and because I'm only PMing people who want to sell links and have previously advertised that fact it didn't occur to me that I might be breaking any rules. I guess the PMs are unsolicited but I don't feel that I'm spamming people since I want to buy links not sell them.

I have ten days before I can post a WTB thread, can the ban not be lifted? And if I'm not allowed to send too many unsolicited PMs can I be fast-tracked as a paid memebr to be able to post in the buy/sell section so that people can PM me? I have money to spend with DP members and I'm an experienced website developer, I think I'd be a useful asset to the forum. I'm a former member of the month and community award winner at Sitepoint but I only mention that to show that I'm not some random idiot spammer.

Rules for paid and non-paid members are the same. We have no fast track programs.

I'm still banned from sending PMs, when will this ban be lifted, are there guidelines somewhere?

His answer doesn't actually tell me when the ban will be lifted does it. Do you know what the correlation is?

There is no any fixed criteria for this. If you have sent more unsolicited PMs then ban period is long and if you have sent few unsolicited PMs then ban period is short.

Thanks for your reply but what is 'long' and what is 'short'?

They're terms relating to relative length or duration.

Mods are going to bug with you with saying long and short but wont give you a exact date. I think you wont get your pms back before a month.

You do realize he has no way of knowing, right? If all you wanted was a wild-ass guess stated confidently you shouldve said so.

So what is better. Keep waiting every single day and getting response that it will take some time from mods for months or getting a rough idea from experienced member which has more chances to be right.

I have read similar hreads before and most of the times after hesitancy mods reply that this pm ban is usually a monthish and many times i saw the complainers post after a month that they have still not got the pm feature back, so you at least have a rough idea rather than getting vague answers.

Ding ding ding. The ones that dont know cant tell, the ones that can won't. Darned admins seem to think its a bad idea to give away the details of the anti-spam measures. Sunsabeeches just take all the fun out of cutting and pasting private messages. Go figure.
