Maybe DP won't be able to tell who this was but a member of DP is a spammer:

What i found weird about the email is, that the email was received at my email address that nobody on DP would know which is andrew{something}@aol.com but in the to section of the email i received it read To: instead of the address above that i use everyday, that email address i do not post on DP & i don't have it on my profile & the only people from DP that would know that address would be people i have done business with as it is also my paypal address.

Maybe he never knew you were a DP member and got the id from somewhere else. And he might have been trying to contact people who are not related to DP. Anyway I never got any mail like this, infact the only webmaster related spam I get is from a Russian webdesigning company that occassionally sends me their latest webdesigning offers.

Just ignore the email and mark it as spam so it won't get in your inbox.

I agree. If you're using GMail, that's easier.

I'm not worried as far as i am concerned it's sorted, i was just making DP staff aware of the problem.

I have blocked the address from sending me mail (as i just got another email about pagerank domains) & reported both emails as spam.
