Far too risky to mess around with other people money -- you need a big institution to be able to provide the security necessary.

I dont think DP payment system is a wise idea, coz when you look at payments in general you dont just look at 30,000 probable members who "might" join. You need a considerable larger populate. And not to forget tie-up's with the banks, offering customer service... and stuff and yeah buying man/woman power to support the various possible offsprings.

I dont think anyone here has the time or the inclination for that. You can't expect to compete or become superior with well placed systems like Paypal. Cheaters will be there everywhere... and even if DP opens a new sytem... it wont be any exception...

    Cheers

As good as it sounds, and as wishful I am of happenning it, but still I think it will be a loss for you. You can handle the programming and server security part to be the most secure, but the problem arises when people get cheated by buyers or sellers and want a refund.
Secondly, as I just came to know about, when a bank asks for a Credit card chargeback, one must have enough documents to defend themselves, which is not the nature of products sold at DP. See a recent problem and comments by other members of paypal below:

(That's my thread of a chargeback I just recieved.)

As you said, you will pay from your pocket... and will end up paying for chargebacks a lot, when buyers bank call the shots.
Plus there are a lot of legal documents required, which you are not ready for as you mentioned above.

Was a very good and generous thought though! :)
