Thought it was interesting that Froggle.com is a redirect to DP. It may be known by everyone else, but I didn't know it before.
Shawn owns the domain. It redirect 301 to DigitalPoint so there is no reason it wouldnt show the DP exactly as it is.
It's not that interesting considering I own it (since 5 months *before* Google ever trademarked froogle BTW).
Have they ever approached you about getting the name? Doesn't sound like they would have a solid case ... on the other hand, they might claim since they "did" something with it whereas you just did a redirect, that you weren't really using. I'm not a lawyer, so standard disclaimer.
Yes you can. However I see it as a great buy from dp, and something not to worry about until if the time comes. Not to mention google doesn't even own adsense.com?!
really? i thought google was in a case with a UK company over gmail...I don't know about it in depth though
The basic trademark guidelines for domains says a trademark owner can take a domain if it's registered after they applied for a trademark. (which is why they don't own adsense.com) Otherwise people could just register a trademark for the sole purpose of taking your domain.
I have a bunch of domains I thought were cool that I don't necessarily use right now. But at least I have domains I can do stuff with in the future since all good domains are taken... wavelines.com froggle.com namezap.com domainzap.com greenlava.com vetzone.com inspectzone.com etc... I've had some others that I let lapse because I decided I would never use them for anything like sociald.com
The itunes.co.uk guy lost the domain eventhough he registered it before Apple trademarked iTunes. Don't really know the story but I guess if a company is powerful enough they can take it.
Nah, I am sure that wasnt the case. He was threatening to fight Nominet to get it back the last I heard ...
I do the same thing, have at least 50 or more that I am simply holding onto until I get time to do something with them.
digitalpoint.com was one of the domains I was holding on to in case I wanted to do anything with it. Finally I ended up changing my company name to adhere to the digitalpoint.com domain (and switched to that domain).
