DP over ranked at Alexa ?

I was just checking some forums which had thrice the members online as compared to DP , but still ranked pretty low at alexa .

Is DP really over ranked at alexa ??

 

No DP is ranked as per Alexa accuracy which as we all know is dependent mainly on webmaster usage

The more users of Alexa like on DP ie Webmasters will push the rank up, but for example if a weightlifting forum
or similar the folks on there probably will have never even heard of Alexa, let alone ever used it, so the site
will not rank higher even if a busier site

 

What are the forums you are comparing against?

 

I think DP is ranked perfect spot, but i am sure it will increase more. Let's look at the online member and online guest(some even member), everyday, over the world, from everywhere. There are lots of stuff in here, and thing can learn.

Some forums might not show the exact real online member i guess, but DP they are real and alive.

 

If you want to find the forum visited by the most webmasters, I'd say DP's Alexa rank is accurate. It may not be visited by the most people, but you'll find more webmasters here than anywhere else.

It is based upon the number of users who use the Alexa toolbar

Alexa toolbar cannot be installed on Mozilla Firefox so the ranking is based upon the Internet explorer users!

 

Its not 'over ranked' but other forums users have not as much alexa toolbars installed because usually webmasters install it

 

beat me to it. webmaster related sites have the clearcut advantage in alexa rankings.

alexa became joke this days even spammers managing huge rank to sale sites.(Not talking about Our DP spammer)

 

Apart from huge traffic that also a big reason. Also there is search status plugin for firefox which do same work as alexa toolbar for IE.

 

all i know, alexa gives only approximate info, so rankings i think were not accurate...

 

As mong said only traffic with there toolbar will count.Ya many sites with good traffic never showup in alexa

 

what could be more busier than this forum? A sport forum perhaps.

Holy cow, but you have no idea how inaccurate Alexa is. Only use it to evaluate or compare traffic of similar niche sits. Never different niche.

Proof is by looking at histat.com (or histats.com I think it is). Seee their top sites which get most traffic. And compare alexa. Doesn't make sense.

 

Alexa is really useful if you want to find the sites that are most popular with webmasters - who are the biggest users of the Alexa tool. It's pretty easy to distort your own sites Alexa stats if you have it installed.

 

PR update must have taken plac eon that day.

DP deserves its ranking.

 

Alexa is good for nothing anyway, results can be cheated.
