I have no idea about optigold and while I took a peek at the article/complaint/post I didn't dig or bury it since I don't have any knowledge but if the guy is telling the truth, I don't blame him for being upset.

There are 2 sides to every story - would be interested to hear the other side but I hope it's not that Shawn is too busy.

You all should really look into what your proclaiming about your God Shawn before you go to bat for him. He has done a lot of people dirty, including myself. Optigold is a product that he created (great product when it was being actively developed) that is a billing platform for ISP's. Many people have invested tens of thousands of dollars into his product. He has been telling customers that he decided to do a re-write of the app. That was 2 years ago. Check out the links and decide for yourself.

    Support/Upgrades Free For Life
Yes, you read that right. Tech support and upgrades for life are included with all licensed copies of Optigold ISP billing software. Since a new version comes out every other Friday (with new features and requests), that's a pretty nice bonus.

Company logo for multi-company licenses shows correctly on payment receipts

Optigold is dead, he should, at the least, release the source code to the public domain as he has mentioned before, instead of leaving the people that have spent tens of thousands of dollars high and dry.

BTW, if it weren't for the ISP's that invested thousands of dollars for Optigold and thousands of dollars more for each of the additional 1000 user licenses, or multi-company ability, Adwords and this very forum would not even be. Where do you think he got his capital to build this business.

And as for the many that "donated" money for his servers, 4 ISP's that I personally know would have alone paid for the whole lot of servers he had others pay for (I could really care less about this though).

Please don't get me wrong, I don't dislike him because he has made a lot of money, and is living the American dream. But he has defrauded many companies with Optigold, and those of us would like to make that known.

Possibly, these actions may encourage him to go back to supporting the businesses that got him where he is at now.

After all, that is what we paid for.

What is the point of urging people to "bury" the Digg post? Censorship?

The fastest way to bury any negative news item is to address and resolve it. I don't think Shawn needs DP members trying to hush up the complaint. I think he needs to address the complaint.

I went to take a peek at the forum and found that Shawn is actively answering questions as we speak.

I wouldn't presume to say that it's because of the digg - but it's nice to see that the situation is resolving.

Too bad the person who made the wheel squeak has been banned though.

For what is worth, I have made a $501 donation almost 3 months ago. None of my emails and PMs were responded to.
This makes a donation kind of worthless in my eyes, if I person I donated to could care less about it.
I know he is a busy guy, but then why not hire someone to do a support job for him? I believe this would resolve most of the problems with support.
