    Hello Dear DP members

I have a website that had 800 pages indexed, then leaped to 38800 then dropped to 21000.

What would cause a website to lose the number of pages indexed in Google, considering that the number of pages within that website are exactly the same...

    Any ideas???

    Thank you

Algorithm tweaks on Googles end.... or maybe you lost some backlinks. It's kind of the natural of the game with large websites. Also... did you do anything with site structure?

If that does'nt affect your site rankings or PR, then there's no problem. Many sites fluctuate the number of their indexed pages too.

The number of indexed pages change when the algorithm of Google updates.

I think Google is just updating your number of backlinks that's why there is a sudden drop of indexed pages.
