DP Members, could you please critique my PPC advertsing placement?

I'm a little new to this, so I would appreciate any feedback on my ads! Keep in mind this image came from a widescreen laptop, so it stretches out my website a lot.

I'm looking for ideas on better color schemes for the ads, better types of ads (image vs. text), comments on Adwords vs Amazon vs. other ads, better size/location for the ads, although my ad placement/size for the most part is fixed.

The only thing I've noticed so far is that Amazon's ads aren't always accurate in getting the them of the ad to match my website's content. I'd say about 1 out of 3 times Amazon tries to sell things completely unrelated.

Would it help to take the sitemap links off the orange color navbar and move them into one of the modules on top of the calendar module in the picture, and then put a 728x15 Google link unit there?

I know it's hard to tell, but the picture ad on the far right is a google ad. This picture is of my forum homepage. The ad might look a little too long here, but once you get to my messageboard there are no space problems.

Im no expert on advertising placement yet, or at least i dont feel ive been involved long enough to say i am

However intuition and common sense honestly tell me that is a brilliant design, all your adds are layed out and in a interesting way but yet don't interfear at all with your forum.

Looks very nice to me my friend :) common sense tells me your on the right track.

Thanks!!! :) I don't know if I tried too hard to blend the ads into the site, and maybe that will have a negative impact on revenue generation.

You've probably heard this a lot before, but forums are supposedly infamous for being hard to monetize...good luck getting clicks through your creativity.

I got $10 yesterday, about $13 so far today, my click through rate is between 2.5% and 3.5%, and getting about 30 cents per click. I get about 1000 unique visitors a day.

Wow, for a forum that sounds like a pretty good CTR. You must be on the right track. The cost-per-click sounds good, too, especially for something on a lifestyle-related topic.

That sounds great verb , gosh if i could only make $10 a day, ive made 85 cents in 3 weeks and done nothing but wake up and work my ass off all day, heh, i made a thread just moments ago, have a look maybe you have some advice :S

I think your readers would appreciate the disquising of the adds, because its done in a way that makes them part of the forum and not a add in the forum.

Personally i dont know why people are so morally abrasive to advertisements anywa, how do they expect sites to make a living? haha love and kisses?

As always, people are looking to solve problems and an advert in their face wins. Repetitive impressions upon the mind... It works.

Well, I have a very targeted niche and a lot of people looking for solutions. I rank high in the search engines for some good keywords that relate to the issue at hand.

I did update my advertising a bit as you can see, and also got my first sponsor! I get about 1000 uniques a day on an average weekday, and a total of 1400 people that hit the site on that same workday..
