DP Keyword Tracker says almost all my keywords suddenly dropped out of Google?

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by frankcow, Mar 15, 2006.

Has anyone else checked their keywords today? All of mine experienced a sudden rank change of -9998 give or take.

Is this error with DP? Or is Google doing something funny?

maybe google banned your for keyword stuffing.... would this be possible ? did you over-optimize the site ?

I have problems with about 30 kwp everyday that google gives NA for and if I do manually they sometimes work and sometimes give an error.

I find that in the morning is when I get the most errors, when things are busy, so now I wait until evening time here to do the check all and I won't get any errors.

probably a google api overload, try again later or try clicking one keyword and see if you end up with an error message.

get it often when using google-uk api

this morning finally reflected the fixes from the past weekend. Still, as usual, the tracker shows about 30 keywords that went -9998 on me. Just the usual routine. Tomorrow or the day after those will reappear and others will do it. As long as they appear in real searches, I don't worry about it so much.

Of course there's the obvious question... *did* your site drop out of Google? Did you check any of your rankings manually?

Does it have to do with the max number of querries for an api key for each day?

I figure if all your keywords are on page 10 of search result.
You'd have max of 100 keys that you can querry without getting overlimit error.
The rest of your keywords will be getting -9999 ranking since google return errors after first 100 keys.

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to be this way.

Maybe Shawn can clearify this for us.

there is a query limit, but that isn't the problem that I have ever had. If I manually check I can usually clear the N/A's except one or 2 a day

I find it to have something to do with how busy the server is

I just got this problem too and manually checked and it's showing for whatever DC they are throwing me at.

The drops out of google in the keyword tracker is across many domains and IP's. Manually checking shows they are fine.

I must also admit it scared the crap out of me seeing the red, but felt better when it was almost every single keyword that was top 200 is now NOT. Assumed it was a problem with the tracker and felt 100% better after manually checking at google.com - wow that scared me!

For all the sites I'm tracking the keyword tracker is showing a lot more -9,xxx listings today than just the normal flux. A manual spot check of SERPs and traffic levels show that the rankings have not actually dropped.

I've noticed these massive keyword drops in the few days or so as well. I've been using this tool for months and never came across anything nearly as bad as this. If I try to check manually, I usually get an unknown Google error. It's really annoying. If it keeps up I'll have to find another tool because all of my sites are just showing useless info for Google rankings.
Maybe I'll try checking later on in the day as someone mentioned.

    1. If the Google API servers aren't responding, all tools which use the Google API will fail.

    2. You don't like the Keyword Tracker, you can ask for a refund.

I guess this is getting worse than ever before. I think 15 out of about 115 google results came up N/A today and yesterday it didn't help to do it in the afternoon.... (bummed) I wonder if google isn't responding do to the server changes as of late?

oh well, I am sure it will get back to normal eventually.

EDIT - that was 15 came up correctly out of 115 the other 100 came up N/A

I am seeing the same pattern.

My guess is that the Google servers are busy trying to fix Google's recent screwup with supplemental results.
