You beat me to it I would say posting activity outside of general chat, active members, real traffic and new signups are better measures. Or shall we call things stable as the forum is still PR6?
Alexa has a purpose and that's to provide useless information that Google Analyitics and that niftly tool called AwStats or Webalizer Nonetheless its a third-party tool, so even though its inaccurate at some times, it helps to show people that their results are not forged or faked.
And once this thread is dead, you'll see all the posters in future threads saying: 'my alexa is this, YAHOOOOO' ' waow, I get 300,000 on alexa' and so on... Pffff....
Do you think it's because of all the people that get banned? i see them in almost every post i look at.
I don't think the dp is on the decline at present but because of competition from others, it may go down in future. Hope Shawn would announce some nice deals for the regular dpers (me included) and keep our spirit high
Wow! Look what happened in 2006! I wonder what made that happen, that would be great if something like that happened with my site, http://Melbel.com According to alexa, my site is too young to really be gauged, but I do have some growth shown.
you are trusting alexa over dp's own stats.hahahaha dp has its own stats on the site somewhere check it out.
Me. I think the reach graph by Alexa is an accurate trend. Ask Shaun whether the traffic has decreased or increased in the past year and we will have a clear answer instead of a bunch of haters.
if you think alexa is accurate you are in big trouble bcoz it shows 400 uniques on my site daily and when i put google analytics it said only 30 uniques.thats the difference.
You are a sheep. When a site reaches 300th most popular in the world (DP), don't you think the trends will become more accurate? I do. Since when does Alexa give a traffic estimation anyway?
thats bcoz alexa itself says the higher your rank the more accurate.so unless your site is below 10k it wont help you.
We are all talking about DP's Alexa rank of 300 in this thread, and 90% of people are saying that Alexa is inaccurate, which is BS for high ranking sites. The higher the ranking, the more accurate Alexa becomes. I can agree that Alexa doens't mean much for rankings above 100,000 but once you're under 1,000 or even 100,000 the trends become very accurate. I have an Alexa rank 10,000 site and the trends Alexa reports are very similar to those reported by Awstats.
