DP handing out infractions like candies?

I just received an infraction from DP for posting a question in the general chat.

Apparently - as I was warned, the purpose for general chat is for "dp related topics"
But the description below the forum topic says "chat about anything your heart desires"... that implies anything and everything. No restrictions.

go figure...

Suggestions:
1) politely advise the person they did something wrong
2) move the thread to wherever the mod believes it should be
It takes the same effort and time to send an infraction as it does to move a thread.

End result - a friendlier DP community
I'm sure my original post didn't offend anyone, as it's intention was to ask for help, and I'm equally sure no one said "why the heck is this post here in this section"

an honest mistake vs. malicious intent - these are completely different.

I'd like to say I'd give the mod that made the error the same benefit of the doubt, but I already have been dp slapped. so there is no use.
