I am a user of this forum from last 2 months almost and what i am observing is this forum goes down at 10:00 pm IST for hours. It takes almost 10 minutes to show me the private messaging page. My connection is 2 MBps Dedicated Wireless Network and It is NOT the problem. Is this due to a HIGH Internet Traffic in Indian & Asian countries at that time? any Ideas ?
I am complaining about this since last 15 days but still no solution for this http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=6219029&postcount=44 DON.
maybe just some parts of India. Dp works fine here in Mumbai. It might have to do something with the recent internet problem mentioned by wisdomtool. It should be fine in few days if that's the case.
things like this depend on a few factors, mainly what backbone provider your broadband provider uses. I used to run an ISP back in the mid '90s (the first one in the south of spain) and all our bandwidth was provided back then by one backbone provider based in holland. There were times when any sites hosted in europe would work fine and then sites based in the US would just time out, but other ISPs who used a different backbone werent affected. In short, its a connectivity issue that needs to be corrected by your provider, not DP. Oh, and blame all the kids running p2p file sharing for the scarcity of bandwidth....
Its not related to recent internet problem (cable cut) but we are facing this problem since last 15 days or more. Things to be noticed is that we are facing this problem after 8-9 PM till midnight IST and at the same time other sites working properly (problem related to dp forums only) DON.
this is very true. i own a 2MBPS wireless network but DP just goes off ! around 10 IST even if I try to access the PM page or try to login, it takes more than 20 minutes. As I tried to ping the DP server, it is hosted by its own dedicated server. There are other sites which are hosted on same server: Cnwomen.info | Data-point.com | These sites also get fucked up during this time. Which means, the network path between DP server and Indian Provider gets FUked. The server of DP is located in North America (216.9.35.53) Its dataflow path from there to India is as: IP Address: DNS Server 66.98.244.1 gphou-66-98-244-1.ev1servers.net 66.98.241.12 gphou-66-98-241-12.ev1servers.net 129.250.11.129 ge-1-11.r03.hstntx01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net 129.250.2.228 xe-0-1-0.r20.hstntx01.us.bb.gin.ntt.net 129.250.3.129 as-0.r20.dllstx09.us.bb.gin.ntt.net 129.250.8.186 p16-0.uunet.dllstx09.us.bb.gin.ntt.net 152.63.99.1 0.so-6-2-0.xt3.dfw9.alter.net 152.63.29.105 0.so-2-0-0.xl1.sdg2.alter.net 152.63.113.221 pos7-0.gw2.sdg2.alter.net 157.130.245.58 simplenet-t3.customer.alter.net 209.132.3.3 ac-cr2-fa1-0-0.accentric.net 209.132.8.62 nethere01-gw.accentric.net 66.63.128.40 fa0-0.sndg-cr-1.nethere.net 216.9.35.53 offspring.digitalpoint.com rest of my calculation tell me that the problem lies at this server: 129.250.8.186 p16-0.uunet.dllstx09.us.bb.gin.ntt.net One of the west-asian bandwidth provider, goes slow cuz one of its major node goes down. This node carries heavy internet traffic for asian countries.
Well thats very interesting, i am surely convinced its the backbone provider that might be having some issues. You should contact your ISP and see what they have to say.
DP is slow for not only Indian members but a lot of other members from different locations too. We were talking about it few days ago on the other forum.
Yea, I thought it was just me with my 64kbps connection It simply times out all the time for no reason. Also it works when only one window is open...if 2 are open...it times out.
