DP Database Hacked/Leaked?

I just received an email addressed to Digital Point Members and it was sent to my 'digital point' email address. (I always use a unique email address for each forum, website that I sign up for.)

Are these being sent to other digital point members? Is it actually something from DP?

 

Got the same one, looked an awfull lot like spam...

 

Didnt recieve any :-| may be the spammer found your email via your profile.

 

I didn't get anything. Actually I don't ever remember getting any spam from DP.

 

Quite possible - just the first time I noticed that they were advertising Digital Point, etc

 

I've started getting lots of junk mail to my email address on account with DP here. But I just started getting ones mentioning DP within the email.

I dont think so it can be hacked/leaked but you have turned on option of showing your email to public in your profile maybe that's why http://forums.digitalpoint.com/sendmessage.php?do=mailmember&u=14627 .|
Will, you also have selected in your profile to show email to everyone.I think that's the reason.

I got the same email as well but did not open it for fear of the titles contents

Luckily it went to the spam section of gmail

Hmm...I was pretty sure I had that option disabled. Do you know which setting I need to change?

 

Usercp>Edit Options> You can allow other members to send you email messages.
Receive Email from Other Members >Make sure it is not checked.

Weird... I also was pretty certain that I had that option unchecked.

I got it too. I think they spammed everyone who haven't hidden their email address here on DP.

I certainly didn't.

 

And here is a thread started by the spammer.

 

They should ban that guy for the spam.......
