DP AdSense Clickthrough

I signed up for the DP AdSense revenue sharing thing a week ago or so. Not intending to make any money off of it, I was mostly just curious.

So far I have just over 1000 page impressions from dp, and not a single click. Are forums really that bad in general for clickthrough, or is this forum just particularly bad because of the target audience?

As I said I'm not complaining, I'm just curious.

I think it is because many users are webmasters and webmasters usually don't click the ads! :p
Although the CPM ads here at DP are still a few...

Fortune cookie says, "He who makes a forum for Adsense is better off learning phrase 'Would you like fries with that?' "

I've never clicked an adsense add in a forum ever.

After reading all those "my adsense account got banned" threads I've stopped clicking on Adsense ads altogether. Who knows if Google is paranoid and starts suspecting webmasters of collusion? Far-fetched I know, but I get jittery when my mouse gets near Adsense blocks nowadays :D

The ads here at DP are not in-your-face. Which is good for readers, but bad on the CTR.

Yeah I think you all have good points. The audience here is programmed not to click on ads. I too was wondering about the ad strategy here. There are big ugly ads in the top right corner (not a prime location), and inline text ads that are nearly invisible (at least to me).

On the other hand it does make the site better to look at, at least once I scroll the ugly ad off the screen. :)

    Cheers,
    Gary

    LOL

Unfortunately, I learned this lesson the hard way. I created a forum and thought I'd make big bucks from Adsense with it. I get 500 uniques a day to that forum and I'm lucky to manage $5.00 a month (yes...a month)

The other pages of that site do better though.

Well, I'm glad I read about how unworthwhile forum advertising is. I think I'm abandoning my forum site to rot for now. :)

I dunno what any of you'll are talking about, maybe you'll just didnt do it well, I have a forum and it doesnt gevt nearly that many visitors a day as you say and Im already making like $2/day from the forum, actually gary99 is a member there, and ive had no complaints about the ads they look good blend in extremely well and get pretty good CTR for a forum which I would consider about 3% considering how many pageviews per visitor and etc. that's pretty good ask anybody or check it out for yourself, there is very good ways to optimize a forum you just got think a little harder and think about style, the mood, and make sure to blend link colors, fonts, and etc. I get maybe not even a 100 uniques a day for that forum currently and I pretty proud of the its look I actually think the Adsense has added something more to the forum for the users as a resource....

Good Luck just work at it :)

Hmmm, your response has made me reconsider looking at the possible layouts for forums.
Do you have a link to your forum so that I might be able to use it as an example when updating my own forum?
