Downtime due to server change killed my site

    Hello,

I'd like to share a recent experience of mine with you.

My Portuguese article directory site (www. superartigos. com) was doing really well until about a week ago. It had PR6 and about 1000 uniques daily. Then there were some problems on the server, so I decided to move it to a different host where I bought shared hosting.

I had trouble moving the site because it exceeded CPU on the old server. This caused me downtime of around 2 days! When the site was finally up and running I noticed that it's PR dropped to 4! The traffic was still coming so I wasn't so depressed.

Then about a day or two later, I find that there are no visitors on the site. I check and see that the site is still indexed but all the SERPs are gone. It doesn't even rank on the first four pages for its name!!!

Does anybody have any experience with this? Is there anything I can do or is this a passing phase?

    Cheers!

i wouldnt worry about it too much because your links are still intact. google will reevaluate your site and give it the credit it deserves. u can also, login to your google webmaster and file a reconsideration request to expedite the process

I agree, give it a week or two and the traffic should be back up to around whatever it was before. :)

I guess it can't just vanish like that. It has to be temporary.
    Best of luck!

You need to give time for google bot to reevaluate your website on new hosting. It will take some time before it get back to usual state. You can contact Google to fasten thing up. Keep adding content like usual and it will be back in no time.

All you need to do is to concentrate on maintaining the quality work in flow and resubmit the sitemaps in your Google Webmaster Tools account and also in yahoo and bing webmaster tools .. It is surely temporarily. Google generally penalize websites with bad user experience, after all it is made to improve the user experience.

Also had the same experience, just give it a time and it'll get the same traffic and PR soon.

Thanks for all your advice guys, but it's been three weeks now and everything is still the same.

I'm starting to think it is something far more serious.

Really hope my intuition is wrong.

Yeah I was having the same problem.. that could be just Google mistakes.
They would just evaluate it later on.

Did yours get back to normal? If yes, how long did it take?
