    Hi All,

I kept reading how great Firefox browser was so I downloaded it a few days ago and love it. I added a few of the add-ons, etc.

Now when I start Firefox browser, I get this box in the left hand corner of screen that says "transferring from spe.atdmt or i.i.com" and other programs that look like spyware to me?

    My IE browser is fine.

I cannot find anything regarding this "spe.atdmt". Is this a virus, spyware? Is it connected to anything I downloaded from Firefox?

I just can't figure this out and how to get rid of it.

I do have AVG running, do I need another antivirus/spyware program?

Thanks if you can please help.

    Jen

Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. I really don't want to block ads at all, just this spe.atdmt was driving me crazy and slowing up my browser with the "transferring" message on every single page I visit. But I understand it better now.

    Thanks,

    Jen

If you have a solution, would you care to share what you did for anyone else who happens across this thread?

Well, after finding that it is for advertising and not a virus, I used the add-on Adblock Plus from Firefox here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

You can block certain ads/cookies that way. I really do not want to block too much because it may hurt advertising webmasters, myself included. But that "spe.atdmt" was taking forever to load and slowing up the browser.

That's the solution I found for myself, but doesn't mean it is the best. I am a new Firefox browsing user, so I'm just beginning to learn about the add-ons.

In fact, if anyone has a list of the best add-ons, point me to it please. There are so many.
