I have finally had it. My laptop is so slow its untrue, ive held out for 3 months in the hope of getting used to it but i really cant. Last month, i had to do my mums computer as she hated vista also, but it made me format the hard drive first. I dont have any problems formating the hard drive however, as i have a laptop it has 1 of those mouse pad things and in the bottom right hand corner near the time my laptop has: Synaptics pointing device installed and HP lightscribe installed Im wondering if i reformat my hard drive it will obviously remove these 2 programs (which i dont have on CD) will it mean i cant use the mouse pad once i reinstall Windows? Cheers
Touchpad will usually work without the Synaptics tools. Only needed for configuring "fancy" stuff. Lightscribe is for the CD/DVD burning software. You should be able to find this stuff either on the HP website or use google. Lightscribe media are comparatively expensive. So I guess it wouldn't be a big loss anyway, if you loose that ability. Check the HP website for XP drivers/tools. I did the same last year, when I downgraded my wife's lapi. I found almost everything I needed on HP's .com (US) support site
Downgrading to XP, good for you Well, don't worry about drivers, you can download all of them from hp.com, as I did just search with your laptop model no.
Im just worried that once i have downgraded my screen/mouse/keyboard may not work as i have never done this with a laptop before
I like Vista, if you have a fast PC then it is fine. Here is my reasons to use windows vista Good luck with the downgrade. Thanks Brian
All non-geeks I usually meet DO like Vista. The less experience they have, the more they like it. Even a friend who owns a nice 30" TFT, 800$ graphics card, 1.5 TB storage etc really likes Vista now. Will upgrade to the 64bit version soon, because 8 GB RAM aren't very usefull with 32 bit OS.
well,i think that there is 0 reasons to use vista, but if you like, enjoy it heheh hahahah I totally agree! lol
Before you downgrade ensure that you have all your drivers for your laptop. Download those drivers first before you reformat and install XP. It will make life more convenient for you.
Don't worry, this is not gonna happen! Your screen/mouse/keyboard will work for sure, with less functionality of course, until you install appropriate drivers
For some time you used Vista. Even if you downgrade to XP, you fell very lazy. Don't downgrade to XP, even if you have a lot of problem in vista see you can find all drivers for your pc in HP site. But i know surely you will miss some drivers or even you cant find, i'll bet you (experience speaks here)
I never used Vista so i dont knwo about it yet. but one thing for sure is I dont have any desire to upgrade to Vista at all.
You prolly using vista home edition. Suckkkk.. yes when u purchased Laptops now they dont give CD for installing Vista. But U can make ur own back up for that. Or ask ur vendor how.
Not all mfc gave you the media for installing XP. So where's the difference? Maybe I don't understand, but could you please enlighten us, what's wrong with the Vista Home Edition? BTW "Basic" or "Premium"?
You have now, i've been using vista ultimate for about a year, love it, no complaints, boots in under 15 seconds and can do anything i need.
