As we all know that Meta title is one of the major factors for a web site to be listed in SERP, I have one doubt regarding Meta title. When I searched ‘fashion.com’ in google I found a site www.fashion.com at the first position. SERP is showing this site with a title ‘Fashion’ but when I searched its page source, there is no Title or Description is available and also no informative content is available in that page. My doubt is how google is showing the title as ‘Fashion’? And how this site got PR 4 without any content? Also it’s showing the image alt tag as description. Can google consider the image alt tag in description? Please answer me as I’m wondering to know the reason for that.

    Hey man,

SEO is much more than just meta tags ... In fact, meta tags isn't even a real factor in SEO now a days.

I won't get into too much detail, but here is a simplified view..
    • Number of Backlinks
    • Quality of Backlinks (which of them has PR, and is contextual)
    • Anchor Text Variation
    • On Page Optimization
    • Social Presence
    • Age

Proper combination of these factors will get google to rank a website, because these are the true indicators that lets google know what's considered high authority.

Content IS NOT KING! That's a false misconception.

Think about it, Amazon doesn't have great content right? Yet it's considered one of the highest authority site's in the world :)

    Hope that helps :)

You're searching fashion.com as keywords not a title. The title is simply that, a title. People use keywords as the title, but the title should be informative to the user searching the keywords they desire.

The alt tag appearing as the description is simply Google has index the first line of text as the description because there is no META description.
