Doubt regarding Directory submission

    I Suppose directory submission is allowed only for Website Homepage or its complete URL .If that is the case than

    DO i need to submit my Website to say 1000 directories only once a lifetime ?

    what if i submit my site to the same directory more than 1 time even after it got approved for the first time .will i be penalised for doing this .

    I have not done directory submission before .just googled out regarding the steps and found out that Meta tags, keywords ,Url and personal details are mandatory . Do i require anything else ?

    Directory submission is the easiest way to acquire backlinks. You can submit your website as well as inner pages to directories(if mod allowed). No one will penalize(except directory mod) you if you put more than one link in a directory...:)

    To start directory submissions, you will require your website title, meta description and your keywords.

    In my opinion the way to do directory submission is to spend 15-30 minutes a day, and once you're doing it, create yourself a list of directories for future reference and so that you don't submit to the same directory twice.

    There are directories that allow you only to submit your home page, but some of them offer "deep links" which means you can submit any page on your website.

    Also, remember to first check the listing that you want to appear under, especially to see if the directory links are actually do-follow (I found it easy to check it with firefox's plugin no-do follow) and if the links are proper, or they redirect (if they redirect then they don't give you any strenght on google).

    Directory submission is mainly of three types:
    1) Free/Regular Submission
    2) Reciprocal link exchange
    3) Paid submission

    In free submission you can submit only the mail URL. To submit the inner pages you have two options:
    1) Either you go for paid submission (Not recommended)
    2) Search for deep link directories that allow submission of inner pages free of cost.

    In order to carry out directory submission, you need to have:
    1) Title
    2) Description
    3) Keywords
    4) Authentic email id and not like someone@yahoo or gmail or any other free service.
