Hi, One month ago I've changed my ad placement, from having adsense at the top of the page, I've put all three ad units in the content. My RPM has doubled. Which means the site started earning double money as soon as I've changed the ad placement. I'd like to keep on improving it if possible since I don't control traffic much, it is blocked by Google at the same number everyday. Here is an example page with adsense in the content, below each top item, on the right: http://www.best-reviewer.com/best-r...spyonweb-reverseinternet-wikipopia-blekko.htm I have put link units at the top of the page, also an adsense for search input box at the top. And the 3 ad units as part of the content. The other ads are from buysellads, infolinks and clickbank. Could you please give me some tips on how to improve this ad placement further, thank you.
If you've doubled earnings I wouldn't be changing anything. Now you've optimized ad placement, work on driving more targeted traffic to the site.
Yes, it has doubled, but perhaps there is still room for improvement, like doubling it again As for the traffic, google seems to be capping the traffic to this site for months now despite new content being added everyday since the start nearly two years ago. It is an issue of course, but still if things related to RPM like ad placement can be improved further, in the meantime it is what I can act upon.
The site looks like it has too many ads at it is, I wouldn't be trying to optimize any further. The top banner ads should be placed in the sidebar IMO.
I would say drive more traffic and than that alone will double what you have doubled remember with split testing if it works don't break it. If you would like keep split testing and take notes of where the ad placements where and how much that layout a,b,c,d,e made for the week.Maybe even test each layout for a week and see which one did the best a the end of the month. But no matter how well your placements are you wont double up again unless you have the traffic coming in.
Yes, I would surely split test any new ad placement before deciding to applies the changes permanently. So if you have any suggestion. I think the 3 ad units can hardly move now since this spot as part of the content seems to be working good. But perhaps the link units placement could be improved, it's just that I have ran out of ideas, and this current ad placement works for each adsense unit already. Yes if not for the suggestions of others I don't think I'll change again or try anything else by myself, better not to break it as it is now CORRECT for earnings. It was too low before, so now has come up to correct, that's why I still had the wish to make it a quite profitable, healthy RPM instead of barely correct. (above $5) So if you have any suggestion on improving the ad placement or some other part, they are most welcome.
Dear Friend. Sorry! I see that you have abused too much advertising. That's when the Infolinks and Clickbank are present
Yes maybe you're right, when one sees infolinks and clickbank on a page along with adsense it means they went to the dark side of too much advertising Now, surely you're right, and maybe adsense seems to think so too, I received a 3 days notification email about my ads, but the example page is not even a top page, so the focus is not on the ad units within the content, it seems to be the confusion at the start of the page, with buysellads.com widget.. So I made some changes by labelling the ads, I don't know if that will do it for them since their email wasn't clear about exactly which adsense unit was the culprit, I'm guessing it's not good enough what I've changed, so I'll see in the following days what will happen.. Dear friend! I think adsense and buysellads enough for you, you sell text link on your website SEO means dropped, I hope you uninstall Infolinks
Don't worry about infolinks and text links, you're missing something and you are confusing infolinks/text links with the fact of selling hard links, those links from infolinks are dynamically added via javascript, they are invisible to search engine bots, so they don't count in ranking sites.. But yes they are ugly and make the site less user friendly, for a mere $2 per day (at the current traffic)
Thanks for sharing this with us. Here is my view: (1.) I think the first picture should be customize (re-sized to become smaller). I think it is occupying too much space. (2.) May be you should change the font of your post and re-organize the adverts (both Google and others) in a way that they will blend with the content. ( As if they are part of the content and not advertisement.) Otherwise, you're cool.
On some of your product based pages Prosperent would work well I would think. They have a couple types of ads that seem to fit your site. ProsperLinks and their PerformanceAds. Personally I build tons of sites using their API, but those other formats would work well on a site like yours. I was looking at like a page on Mountain Bikes and for product based pages like that it is good. Just if you are looking to try something new.
